All Day I Dream returns to Industry City, New York, on Saturday, September 19, for a particularly special edition: Lee Burridge playing open to close for eight hours, guiding the crowd from afternoon into night.
Running from 4:00 PM to midnight, the event brings the focus back entirely to the artist and curator who started All Day I Dream in New York fifteen years ago. Rather than a multi-artist lineup, Burridge will control the full arc of the day, building the atmosphere from the opening record to the final moments of the night.
For a series built around patience, progression and emotional storytelling, the format feels like a return to its origins.
Back to Where All Day I Dream Began
All Day I Dream first appeared on a Brooklyn rooftop in 2011, before developing into an international event series and record label recognized for its melodic sound, elaborate environments and distinctive day-to-night atmosphere.
The September event follows a sold-out Industry City showcase earlier this summer, but this time the format changes completely. Instead of sharing the booth with the wider All Day I Dream family, Lee Burridge takes over for the entire eight hours.
It is something he has not done at All Day I Dream since the project’s earliest years.
“When I started All Day I Dream in New York, I played open to close simply because nobody back then was playing a full set of tracks with this kind of feeling.”
Burridge remembers those early parties as an attempt to bring the idea of the musical journey back into focus. Fifteen years later, he has a much deeper catalog of music, memories and experiences to draw from.
“I’ve thought about my sets as a musical rollercoaster for many years. Being allowed so many hours to play gives me the opportunity to get to certain points without it feeling disjointed. Some patience.”
Eight Hours, One Musical Journey
An open-to-close set offers something that shorter festival slots rarely allow: time.
There is no need to arrive immediately at peak energy. Burridge can move gradually through warmer opening selections, hypnotic grooves, deeper passages and the emotional melodic records that have become synonymous with All Day I Dream.
